Narayana Nethralaya is a super specialty eye hospital in Bangalore, having three large centers, first center located centrally at Rajajinagar, second center at Narayana Health City campus on Hosur Road and the third new center located at Castle street, Ashok Nagar, Bangalore. It is currently one of the largest tertiary eye care centers in the state of Karnataka providing an advanced level of eye care. Narayana Nethralaya was started in the year 1982 as an eye clinic at Srirampuram, Bangalore by our Chairman Dr.K.Bhujang Shetty.
Slum 10K Project SLUM 10K (Eye Care for Bangalore’s Slum Children) Slum 10K is an initiative started in December 2008 by Narayana Nethralaya in association with Seva Bharati and Aruna Chetana (2 prominent NGO’s in Bangalore) and has set a target to screen and treat 10,000 slum children from the slums of Bangalore city limits. Every 2 months, a pediatric screening camp is conducted by a team of Narayana Nethralaya doctors, assisted by the NGO’s (mentioned above) at a venue situated within the selected slum pockets of the city. State of the art equipments are transported to the venue and a team of subspecialists, optometrists and rehabilitators examine over 1000 children (each time). Children identified to require spectacles are provided free glasses, those requiring higher centre follow-up are subsequently examined at Narayana Nethralaya (free of cost). Children requiring surgery are operated at the base hospital in the subsequent weeks at no cost to the parents.
