Why we do Himalaya Pranam?

The Maha Himalayas are secret caves and spaces in the Himalayan ranges that contain great metaphysical powers and act as portals to other dimensions. The Himalaya Pranam is a salutation to the knowledge of yoga and spirituality. It is this knowledge that helps us grow, and build ourselves. This salutation is a way to be grateful and bow down to the Truth and the ultimate experience of life.

The great Himalayas are the source of powerful and divine energies containing many secrets regarding knowledge of yoga, spirituality, metaphysical existence, universal mysteries and much more. The Himalaya Pranam is derived from Kaul Pranam which comes from the ancient school of Yoga in the lineage of Lord Shiva. This salutation is a way of showing respect, reverence and gratitude to the mighty mountains. By connecting with the knowledge, we will know how fast we can progress on the path of yoga and spiritualty. Practising this Himalaya Pranam is a way to remind ourselves that we will be students forever. Knowledge is nothing but a blessing that is bestowed upon us.

Steps to perform Himalaya Pranam

  1. Start in Pranamasana with feet together
  2. Holding pranam, bend half down with your upper body to Samakonasana
  3. Straighten to Pranamasana, opening your feet to hip-width distance. Inhale and bend back to Hastha Uthasana
  4. Exhale hold your ankles with your palms
  5. Walk your palms forward and lie down on your stomach in Advasana
  6. Inahle and lift up both your legs, and palms holding pranam to Shalabsana
  7. Exhale lie down, and push back to Adomukhiswanasana
  8. Walk your palms back to Padahasthasana
  9. Holding Pranam, bend back to Hastha Uthasana
  10. Exhale, and bend half down with your upper body to Samakonasana
  11. Straighten to Pranamasana

The Himalaya Pranam consist of 11 steps and is used by all the Siddhas, Yogis, Yoginis, Himalayan Masters, Sadhakas, Abhyasis who follow this Himalayan system of respectful greeting. This system helps the practitioners in multiple ways- it allows the spirit to becomes humble, it enables the spirit to become strong, it increases the capacity of the spirit, and also increases one’s power of understanding. This practice teaches them how to evolve towards divine energies.

All Sadhakas cannot access these supernatural spaces in the Himalayan terrain, only the Sadhaks who are true knowledge seekers with no desire for material gratification and under the spiritual guidance of a spiritual master are given permission to enter.
